Children and Adult Services

Adult Services give advice, guidance and support for elderly or vulnerable adults. Adult Services also investigate allegations of abuse, inform appropriate regulatory bodies (where necessary) and provide support to secure the safety of the individual.
Children Services give advice, guidance and undergo assessments with children. If you have concerns that a child might be being abused and you want to talk to someone about your concerns, please ask to speak to the duty social worker.

Childrens Services – Education Welfare Department
Can give advice and support on matters affecting the welfare of children which may prevent them from making the most of their time at school. They also can allocate funding to enable parents to purchase school clothing.

Contact Centre
Cove Child Contact Centre has been up and running since September 2003 and is for couples that have parted, giving the non-resident parent access to their children. The Contact Centre is open on the first and third Sunday of every month between 2pm and 4pm. Attendance is by referral only, usually through the Courts, but can be via Social Services, the CAB etc. The Centre is able to take a maximum of 18 children. The visits can continue for as long as is necessary and there are lots of toys for the children to play with at the centre, giving them and their parents quality time together.

Connexions
Provides a range of guidance and support for young people between 13-19 years old (or 25 for those with learning disabilities). Each school has a designated Connexions Personal Adviser who is able to give advice and guidance on a variety of issues that young people face – from employment and careers to housing and sexual health.

Courts– Outreach Support
If you are going through the court process in connection with a domestic abuse incident, you can obtain independent, confidential advice, information and support through the local Advocacy Project. This covers cases being heard in the Aldershot or Alton Courts.

Courts– Witness Care Unit, (Aldershot, Alton & Winchester Crown Courts)
Contacts victims and witnesses in criminal court cases to provide information about the court process and overcome any difficulties in attending court. They can also signpost to other agencies. Cranstoun Drug Intervention Team
Offer help for people with drug and alcohol problems through arrest referral. They work in partnership with Probation and the local Crime Reduction Partnerships. Cranstoun also offer a young persons service for under 18’s.

Deaf Awareness

Fleet Information Project
Advice, information and guidance to young people aged 16-25 including help with drug and alcohol abuse, homelessness, employment, benefits, criminal justice and sexual health.

Furniture Stores
The following two groups hold items of household furniture that have been donated and can be given to people who are in need in order to help them set up their homes:

Health Visitors
Offer advice, signposting and listening support for those with children. Your local health visitor can be contacted through your GP, by self-referral and through other local agencies.

Homestart - North East Hampshire
Volunteers offer regular support, friendship and practical help to families with one or more children under the age of 5. There is also a free drop-in group at the Mayfield Community Centre, 14 Totland Close, Farnborough and a toy library.

Housing
You are considered homeless if you are unable to stay in your home because of the risk of violence or abuse. The homelessness unit in both Rushmoor and Hart Councils offer housing advice, take homeless applications, secured emergency refuge and bed and breakfast accommodation and provides long term housing for those who are eligible.

Housing– Sanctuary Scheme

Hart DC and Rushmoor BC both operate Sanctuary Schemes whereby security measures can be put in place to enable a victim of domestic violence to remain in their property where it is safe to do so. If you live in Hart, please call 01252 621122 or if you live in Rushmoor, please call 01252 398638.

The grants for the security measures are available regardless of whether you own your own home, are in Housing Association property or Private rental.

Victim Support
Victim Support is an independent national charity for people affected by crime.
The service is independent, confidential and free.

Victim Support is available to anyone affected by domestic abuse. The incident does not need to have been reported to the police. Specially trained volunteers offer personal and emotional support. People are given time to talk about their experiences and feelings, discuss future options, choices and their consequences. Volunteers also provide information about the criminal justice system; identify agencies that might be best placed to assist and, if wished, contact other agencies. Volunteers can accompany individuals to the DSS, solicitors, housing departments and County Courts for injunction proceedings; help with filling in compensation application and other forms and offer advice on personal safety.
